To help you see the full context of who the requester of a specific request is you can now connect Back to your BambooHR account, bringing all relevant employee profile information into Back.

Configuring BambooHR

Before you connect Back to BambooHR, you need to generate an API key in BambooHR that will be used to fetch the relevant data.

💁🏻‍♂️ Back will only have access to the same information as the user generating the API key, so in order for the integration to work properly an admin user should generate it.

Generate the API key

Navigate to your BambooHR page and log in. Then click on your initials / photo in the top right and choose API Keys. 

You will generate a new key specifically for the Back integration, so click on the + Add New Key button.

  1. Pick a descriptive name, e.g. Back integration

  2. Click on Generate Key

  3. Copy the key to your clipboard by clicking on Copy key

Connecting to BambooHR

In a new browser window log into Back and go to the Integrations section.

Select Connect in the BambooHR row to open the configuration dialog.

  1. Enter your company subdomain in the first field.
    Your company domain is what is
    before in your BambooHR login URL, e.g. if your URL is your company subdomain is backtech

  2. Enter the API key that you created in before in the second field.

  3. Click Submit to create the connection.

  4. If everything works fine, the status in the BambooHR row will change to Connected

Once connected we will periodically synchronize your employee information from BambooHR with Back incl. information about employee's role, department, office, supervisor, and hire date.

Viewing employee details

You can find the relevant employee information in the Requester tab in the sidebar on the request detail:
